Elisa* came in for a pregnancy test, anticipating she was pregnant. She was undecided on if she wanted to keep the baby, but mentioned she had an abortion a few years ago when she was 13 weeks pregnant, and that the experience was traumatic. It was something she did not want to go through again.

After Elisa received counseling on all of her options from a Client Advocate in our center, she said she was considering making an adoption plan for her unborn baby. With two children at home that she was raising alone, Elisa was fearful to add another child to her situation, but she didn’t feel right aborting her baby.

We were able to perform a same-day ultrasound on Elisa and confirmed she was 8 weeks pregnant. While she was waiting to have the exam done, Elisa found an adoption agency she was interested in working with and called them.

After the exam, Elisa clearly stated her intention to make an adoption plan for her baby, and even asked to watch one of our BrightCourse parenting videos of birth parents who had made adoption plans for their babies. On her exit paperwork she wrote, “Baby is healthy, now I just have to contribute to its happiness.”
