Last year, a young woman walked into our center carrying a weight that words could barely express. She came for a pregnancy test, but the pain she was carrying went far deeper. With tears and a trembling voice, she shared that two previous abortions had left her feeling shattered, ashamed, and convinced she was beyond repair. Though she believed abortion was wrong, she felt trapped once again—facing circumstances that seemed impossible to overcome.
She was in a loving relationship with a boyfriend who truly cared for her, yet she had endured assault by someone else. The uncertainty about the baby’s father added unbearable anguish; she could not imagine carrying a child who might forever tie her to her attacker. She had bravely told her boyfriend about the physical assault, but fear had kept her silent about the sexual assault.
When this woman was meeting with our staff, in a tender, tear-filled moment, our team member prayed silently for wisdom and the right words. What followed was a gentle, honest conversation about the power of truth in relationships. We spoke together about how honesty—though frightening—forms the foundation of real love and trust. This woman admitted her greatest fear: that full honesty might cause her boyfriend to leave. We acknowledged that risk, but also reminded her that truth would reveal his true character and the depth of his commitment to her and their future together.
They prayed through many tears that day. Something shifted in her heart.
Later, she returned with her boyfriend for an ultrasound. Together, our team was able to speak words of encouragement, hope, and God’s love over both of them. She began attending our BrightCourse parenting classes, where she has been engaging in meaningful discussions about God’s unconditional love, forgiveness, and the possibility of redemption—even after deep pain.
Eventually, this woman and her boyfriend celebrated a joyful gender reveal and discovered they are expecting a beautiful baby girl. To everyone’s delight (and in answer to many prayers), her boyfriend proposed marriage right there at the party. She then began meeting with our team to begin her journey with SOAR, taking courageous steps toward deeper healing and restoration.
This young woman’s story is a powerful reminder of why your support matters so deeply! Because of you, our center can be a safe place where broken hearts are met with compassion, truth is spoken in love, and lives are transformed by hope. What began in fear and shame is now unfolding into a story of courage, commitment, and new life—for her, her fiancé, their daughter, and generations to come.
