Skylar* came to our center knowing she was pregnant. She had already purchased the abortion pills online and had them in her car parked outside.
Skylar took a medical-grade pregnancy test at our center, and it was positive. She explained that she had three children, which was one of the reasons why she was considering abortion. She had also recently broken up with the father of the baby because he was verbally abusive. Another reason Skylar was considering abortion was because she was finally going back to school, and was in the process of finding a house to buy.
In her mind, she had several “reasons” to abort her child, but we listened to her and talked through her options.
She was encouraged by her client advocate to give life to her child, whether choosing to parent or choosing adoption. When she learned of all of Life Centers’ resources and how she could receive free items like diapers, pack-n-plays, clothing, and more, she was noticeably more optimistic about her situation.
Skylar came back the next day for an ultrasound exam, and once she saw her baby she decided to choose life. She then chose to watch the Bright Course adoption videos we offer, where moms who decided to choose parents for their child share their personal journey. After watching the videos, Skylar chose to parent her baby.
She continues to take Bright Course
parenting classes to earn free items for her baby and is participating in a 12 week Bible study through Embrace Grace, which ends with the affiliated church providing her a baby shower.
We are so thankful she came to us that day before taking the abortion pills. Skylar is due in January and is looking forward to her future with her 4 children!
