Indianapolis, Ind. — November 18, 2025 — Life Centers is proud to announce that Pregnancy Choices Indy, its network of pregnancy care centers across Central Indiana, received the Anthem BCBS 2025 Maternal and Child Visionary Award in memory of Dr. Chaniece Wallace at the Community Baby Shower held November 16 at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum.
The Maternal and Child Visionary Award recognizes individuals and organizations demonstrating innovative approaches, exceptional leadership, and measurable impact in advancing maternal and child health. Established in memory of Dr. Chaniece Wallace (1990–2020)—a respected pediatric chief resident at the Indiana University School of Medicine who tragically died from preventable pregnancy complications—the award honors her legacy by spotlighting efforts that improve access, quality of care, and family well-being.
“We are deeply honored by this recognition from Anthem BCBS,” said Dawn Lang, Executive Director of Life Centers. “This award affirms the daily work of all our center staff at Pregnancy Choices Indy to expand access to compassionate prenatal and postnatal support, strengthen family health, and ensure that every mother and child in Central Indiana is seen, cared for, and equipped to thrive.”
Pregnancy Choices Indy was recognized for:
- Expanding access to prenatal and postnatal resources across Central Indiana;
- Delivering exceptional support to pregnant individuals through education, material assistance, and referrals;
- Demonstrating leadership in closing gaps in care and advancing better outcomes for mothers and babies.
Along with the award, Anthem BCBS presented a $1,000 grant to support Pregnancy Choices Indy’s ongoing services.

Life Centers is a faith-based ministry that believes in compassionate care for all people who enter their five centers, Pregnancy Choices Indy (PCI), located across Central Indiana. PCI provides no-cost services and compassionate support for those facing pregnancy decisions including pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, prenatal and parenting education, material assistance, community referrals, and ongoing mentorship designed to strengthen family health and well-being. PCI provides education on all pregnancy-related choices and facilitates referrals for ongoing pregnancy care and adoption services. While they do not provide abortion referral options to clients, PCI does provide post-abortive care and support.
